R2R is proud to join the Design Center of the Philippines in introducing industrial and artisanal applications of Bakong, a sustainable, and native material at the Sustainability Solutions Exchange (SSX). For this collective design response, we worked with Design Center and Carlo Delantar on a special bag collection called Provincuidad. It revolves around "the use of the Bakong fiber channeling the countryside, but the transformational character of the bags speaks of the multiple demands of urban living." The pieces are a nod to the baul (treasure chest), bayong (market bag), drum (containers for rice and grains), and pitaka (wallet). It brings our signature R2R weave by our urban artisans together with bakong weavers to create long lasting, classic staples for fashion, home, and almost everything in between. We hope you can join us, together with @dti.designcenterph, @citemph, and @ssx.philippines, as we craft and put forth a new agenda for Philippine design. #circulardesign #circulardesigners #circulareconomy #circulareconomyph #WeaveJoyfulStories #thingsthatmatterph #bakong #loomweaving #handwoven #handmade #artisanal #lovelocal #supportlocal #upcycled #fashionforgood #slowfashion #sustainablefashion #capsulewardrobe #weaving
