Shangri-La at the Fort /
Posted 2 years ago

This year, because of the pandemic many people will be unable to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival under the same roof. So at Shangri-La we want to help evoke the true meaning of this festive holiday and give recognition and support to those who continue to be impacted by separation. We want to share some of the inspiring stories from our dedicated team members, whose talent and creativity help deliver each Shangri-La guest experience. Today we focus on Chef John Buquir - "Even before the pandemic, I was already working away from my family as our home is located in Cebu while I worked at Shangri-La The Fort in Metro Manila. But before COVID-19, I would be able to travel and go home once a month to see my wife and my now 4 year old son. Currently, my homecoming depends on the quarantine restrictions and have only seen them once since the lockdown. With a young son well in his formative years, we try to stay as connected as possible and exchange frequent video calls during the day; one every morning and sometimes during my break. We are managing the best way we can so that I am able to provide for my family and they can stay safe at home. I do miss spending real quality time from sharing meals as a family, being able to go out of town and having fun with outdoor activities, or reading books until my son falls asleep. I’m really looking forward to be able to travel back home for a long-awaited family reunion. " For more stories from Shangri-La or to share your own and win a 2D1N staycation with your loved ones, please visit www.shangri-la.com/reunion-competition or click on the link in our bio. The competition ends on 22 September 2021, join now! #ReunionwithShangrila #与您香聚
