Last week, Sapatero Manila competed in the World Championships of Shoemaking, held in the London Super Trunk Show, for the very first time, and as the first Filipinos to ever do so. The competition was truly fierce, and the line up of entries for this year’s championships were a selection of impeccably crafted shoes brimming with ingenuity and skill. Our entry, a case back watch-inspired pair of saddle loafers adorned with a Solihiya weave band, and finished with a windowed bottom showcasing the hand welting and brass shank of the pair, took over 100 hours to produce, and we are incredibly proud to say that we made it to the 9th overall spot in the global competition. It was a surreal experience to say the least, with us being recognized by the people we have looked up to ever since we started as a company. We were there alongside elite shoemakers, patrons of our craft from all around the world, and figureheads that have inspired us throughout our entire journey. As we celebrate our 10th year in the industry with this milestone, we wish to thank everyone who has become a part of our journey — our team, our clients, friends, followers, and supporters. We will only continue to improve our skill and craftsmanship, and we look forward to next year’s competition. A special thank you as well to Mr. Jesper of from whom the video clip was taken from, to Mr. Justin of The Shoe Snob, and of course to Mr. Kirby Allison. #Sapatero #WorldChampionshipsofShoemaking #supertrunk #LondonSuperTrunkShow2024 #loafer #saddleloafer #shoegazing #shoemaking #shoemaker #craftsmanship #10years #EveryStepAJourney
