There are many things that make National Artist for Dance, Agnes Locsin’s “Encantada” iconic. One of them is definitely the mountain designed by our National Artist for Theater Design, Salvador “Badong” Bernal. Agnes Locsin says in her book, “Philippine Neo-Ethnic Choreography”, that the production was supported by the best designers of the Philippines. Her only request was for Badong to make the highest possible mountain that could be built at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Main Theater before its premiere in 1992. His ingenious designs accomplished this feat so beautifully and remains iconic to this day.
