The National Museum of the Philippines joined the celebration of World Bamboo Day and Philippine Bamboo Month by conducting a special tour and activity for our museum viewers last Friday. The tour highlighted the different artworks from the National Fine Arts Collection that featured bamboo’s significance in our heritage. An activity was conducted at the end of the tour to demonstrate how bamboo has been used in different kinds of arts and crafts from then until now. World Bamboo Day was initiated by the World Bamboo Organization in 2009 to raise awareness of the relevance of bamboo in our daily lives. Meanwhile, Philippine Bamboo Month was established via Proclamation No. 1401 by former President Rodrigo Duterte to instill in the national consciousness the importance of bamboo and bamboo products. We invite everyone to visit the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Anthropology, and the National Museum of Natural History to see more of our wonderful exhibits! The National Museum of the Philippines is open Tuesdays to Sundays, from 9 AM to 6 PM. Admission is FREE! #NationalMuseumPH #WorldBambooDay #PhilippineBambooMonth
