This year, because of the pandemic many people will be unable to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival under the same roof. So at Shangri-La we want to help evoke the true meaning of this festive holiday and give recognition and support to those who continue to be impacted by separation. We want to share some of the inspiring stories from our dedicated team members, whose talent and creativity help deliver each Shangri-La guest experience. Today we focus on our Director of Chinese Operations, Ms. Nancy Farm. "I have been with Edsa Shangri-La, Manila since 1996. Every year, I make it a point to visit my family in Malaysia twice a year. It’s been our tradition to reunite and celebrate the end of Chinese New Year season together over great food and laughter, followed by a short family trip around Asia. In the middle of the year, we visit our other relatives in different cities. Spending time with my loved ones back home has always been something I look forward to. It’s been almost two years since I have not seen them due to the travel restrictions brought by the pandemic. Although the situation is difficult, my family is very supportive. We ensure that we stay connected and celebrate birthdays, milestones, and special moments virtually. During my rest days, we do video calls to catch up, update each other and make sure that everyone is safe. I truly miss bonding and having face-to-face interactions with my loved ones and I’m looking forward to the time I can see and hold them again. I’m very grateful to have my Shangri-La family by my side making me feel at home during these challenging times."
