Because of the pandemic, many people have been unable to celebrate special holidays together. We want to give recognition and support to those who continue to be impacted by separation with inspiring stories from our team members, whose talent and creativity help deliver a Shangri-La experience - not only for guests, but for colleagues as well. Today, we focus on the story of Junee and Michelle Nonala: Our wedding was held last 24 March 2021 in Boracay, at the height of the ongoing pandemic. Despite our detailed plans, everything changed when stricter lockdowns and travel restrictions were suddenly imposed. All our loved ones from Manila can no longer travel to attend the wedding. It was difficult having to decide on a virtual wedding as we really wanted our families to be with us physically on our special day. We only had 2 days to rearrange our plans, and we sought help from our colleagues, who filled in to be godparents, entourage, wedding hosts and planners. The entire event was live-streamed on Facebook, enabling our family and friends to virtually be with us on our special day. We owe a lot to our Shangri-La Boracay family as without their help and assistance, our wedding wouldn’t have been a success.
