Whether it is etched deep within our culture, or influenced by our religion, as Filipinos we have natural close ties to our family and nothing can be more enduring than a mother’s love for her children. Such is the bond between the mother and her child that it has become a favorite theme among artists. The image of a mother and child brings up feelings of warmth, love, and protection. The powerful symbolism of a mother and child was shaped, interpreted, and rendered in various mediums and genres by artists throughout history. This exhibition features the museum’s collection of mother and child-inspired artworks by renowned artists along with Mr. Ramon Orlina’s signature glass sculptures.
