CNC conducts Nutrition Drills 2022 In order to fight malnutrition in the children of General Santos City as well as encourage them to be health advocates at a young age, the City Nutrition Council conducted this year’s Nutrition Drills at Robinsons Place Gensan yesterday, July 20, 2022, with the theme “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-samang Gawan ng Solusyon.” This is in collaboration with the City Health Office, Department of Education - General Santos City (DepEd-Gensan), Philippine Medical Association - General Santos City (PMA-GSC) Chapter, Inc., and Batang Star Philippines, Inc. City Mayor Hon. Lorelie Geronimo-Pacquiao, represented by executive assistant Mr. Johnrex Galdo, delivered a message in support of the agencies involved in the organization of the event, as well as the students present to participate in the drills. The City Mayor mentioned that she hopes for the participants to practice the drills they have learned, and make sure to eat nutritious food in order to stay fit and healthy. The students were given meal kits for the drills, and City Health Officer Dr. Rochelle Gajete-Oco emphasized the importance of these for the children’s proper nutrition. Dr. Oco also highlighted how crucial partnerships are in order to continue programs such as the Nutrition Drills, discussing how vital it is for the local government unit to continue supporting such activities. Also gracing the event were Dr. Brick Carlo Mirabueno - President of PMA-GSC Chapter, Inc., as well as Dr. Noel Pingoy and Dr. Michelle Villanueva who both discussed the importance of nutritious food in relation to mental health and overall wellness. Schools who took part in yesterday’s activity were H. Buayan Central Elementary School, Upper Tambler Central Elementary School, New Society Central Elementary School, and Pedro Acharon Central Elementary School.
