Mark your calendars and join us as we welcome the newest addition to our regional museums: say hello to the National Museum of the Philippines in Dumaguete! Our new branch in the Central Visayas will be housed in the Old Presidencia built in 1937, once home to the city hall of Dumaguete and designed by renowned prewar architect Juan Arellano. It was declared as an Important Cultural Property in 2019. With the support of both the national and local government units, we carried out its restoration according to Arellano’s original 1936 plan and now we are only days away from officially bringing you the newly restored Presidencia. Many thanks to Dumaguete City Mayor Ipe Remollo and the city council for sharing with us a vision of preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Dumaguete, Negros Oriental and the Central Visayas. Exciting exhibitions await you as NMP Dumaguete will soon feature artifacts, relics, antique collections, documents, natural history, and the architectural arts of Negros Oriental and the region. NMP Dumaguete opens this November 26! Stay tuned to our social media pages for more updates!
