The newly upgraded National Museum in Boac opened on February 27 with "Still", comprising 14 large format black and white photographs by filmmaker Cholo Hidalgo Laurel. To make it more accessible, the NM organized an Artist Talk and Tour on March 16. Forty-seven members of the Marinduque Youth Core headed by its president, Mr. Mark Ola participated the Artist Talk and Tour. Ms. Mabel Nazareno, Officer-in-Charge of our museum there welcomed the participants as she introduced M r. Laurel who has deep roots in the island and related to the Hidalgos of Marinduque. It was partly his initiative to form the Marinduque Youth Core as a way of giving back to the community. Mr. Laurel introduced himself not as a director or filmmaker but "a simple individual whose passion is to take photographs and capture moments of people not knowing that he is already telling a story out of those photographs". During the open forum some participants asked questions about his photographs which were frankly answered him. An artist tour took place afterwards, involving Mr. Laurel explaining his photographs as he told the stories and related the different emotions implied in each picture.
