September 20 is Keirō no Hi, or Respect for the Aged Day in Japan. It’s a national holiday celebrated every third Monday of September. Aside from paying respects to the elderly and being grateful for their wisdom and guidance, it is the Japanese’ way to honor their society’s longevity and vitality, as they have continued enjoying the longest life expectancy in the world. Around 80,000 of the Japanese are over 100 years old with 88% of them being women. The oldest person in Japan, and in the world, is Kane Tanaka from Fukuoka, who is turning 119 years old this January. She is called a supercentenarian, or someone who has reached the age of 110. #JCB #UniquelyYours
