Shangri-La at the Fort /
Posted 2 years ago

This year, because of the pandemic many people will be unable to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival under the same roof. So at Shangri-La we want to help evoke the true meaning of this festive holiday and give recognition and support to those who continue to be impacted by separation. We want to share some of the inspiring stories from our dedicated team members, whose talent and creativity help deliver each Shangri-La guest experience. Today we focus on our service leader for F&B- Cresty De Gracia-Alesna Miller - "This pandemic has been extra difficult for me because apart from the fact that I live in the province and work in Manila away from my family, during this time, my daughter suffered a mysterious disease while I was away. What made it tougher was that there was lockdown that prevented inter-provincial travel and i had to wait a while before being able to see her. During that time, technology brought us together as my husband would put her on a video call and although she could not respond to any of my loving messages to her, I knew deep in her heart that she also have a strong love and longing for me. At that time, I found comfort that all my hard work and sacrifices was for her and because of my pure love for her as a mother. Right after the lockdown was lifted, I rushed to her side and even though it was a mysterious disease that the doctor said it would be hard for her to recover, I believe that because I was able to take care of her personally, she has gotten better. No one can replace a mother’s loving touch and embrace."
