What you see here is the gorgeous Mazda RX-7 designed by Matasaburo Maeda. At the time it was launched, it was the only Japanese car to feature pop-up headlights, which reduced air resistance. It came to be known as a model that not only has incredible looks, but outstanding handling stability. Years later, when it was time to design the model’s successor, the RX-8, it was Matasaburo’s son, Ikuo, who took the helm. Interestingly, Matasaburo only found out about his son’s involvement in the RX-8’s design a few months before it went on sale in 2003. It seems like for the Maedas, design talent runs in the blood. #MazdaRX7
