As we once again commemorate the heroic and historic death of our National Hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal, we are bringing back the Rizal Trail activity for our museum guests to learn and enjoy. The trail, which will be offered only on Rizal Day, provides a self-guided tour that will lead museum visitors to select areas of the National Museum of the Philippines Complex and Rizal Park. The trail features Dr. Jose Rizal as an artist, a naturalist, and a hero. Furthermore, the trail allows visitors to find their way to an upgraded gallery dedicated to Dr. Rizal that was recently launched online. Said gallery now features newly installed Rizaliana collections which include among others, a painting by Rizal and some memorabilia that were loaned from the Ver Reyes family, descendants of Jose Rizal’s sister, Saturnina. It is the first time that these new collections are actually presented on public exhibition. Likewise, visitors will be able to see Dr. Rizal’s hand-written message to his wife as dedication in a book that he gave to his beloved wife on the day of his execution. Visitors are encouraged to catch this rare chance of seeing Rizal’s hand-written message as it is only being revealed to the public during the birth and martyrdom commemoration of Jose Rizal. Copy of the trail may be downloaded from this post while printed copies may be obtained from the frontline desk in the museum on the 30th. To visit the museum, please click http://nationalmuseum.gov.ph/reservation and secure a slot. See you on the 30th!
