𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 In celebration of PRIDE month, we welcomed our dear LGBTQIA+ members wearing their colorful outfits yesterday at the National Museum of Anthropology and National Museum of Natural History. This first-ever NMP PRIDE Tour, a special guided tour for the LGBTQIA+ members and advocates was made possible through the initiative of our GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) in partnership with UP Babaylan. As our Deputy-Director General for Museums Jorell Legaspi said during the opening program, “we take pride in offering everyone a wide range of safe spaces to contemplate, reflect, marvel and express themselves. By doing this, we fulfil our core function as an educational institution that is open, welcoming, and nurturing - which are essential attributes for not just tolerance but for acceptance.” We at the #NationalMuseumPH are tirelessly working to make each of our museums a safe space for everyone and is committed to continuously promote gender-fairness and inclusivity. Since the start of June, we’ve conducted various activities to show our support to the Pride month celebration. From the hanging of progress flags in our museum facades, conduct of film showing featuring Esoterika: Maynila by Director Elwood Perez in partnership with EdukSine, SOGIESC webinar, this Pride tour and other internal activities for our employees. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our partners and everyone who supported and participated in all our activities. Let’s continue to support our LGBTQIA+ community who continue to represent the wonderful spectrum of identities, love and life. Finally, here’s a message for all LGBTQIA+ members from one of the members of our GFPS Secretariat and our standard bearer for this advocacy Ms. Bianca Francine España: “For me, we should always let the people feel that even if we are different it doesn’t make us less of a person and we can still reach our highest potentials and we can also excel in whatever field we would like to be in. Don’t let other people put us in a box, and go out of our comfort zone and shine bright like a diamond.”
