Ice cream is undeniably one of the most loved desserts. But if you’re tired of eating the same flavors over and over again, here are some of the most distinct and quirky flavors we found on the internet that you’d surely love (or hate!)

Tinutong Na Kanin

Who says rice can’t be an ice cream flavor? Tinutong Na Kanin is made with roasted rice (think rice tea).

Biko Gelato

Made with browned coconut milk, coconut sugar crumble, and pandan. The flavor is inspired by the Filipino snack biko (rice cake).

Where to find them: Manila Creamery is a Filipino-inspired gelato company and they also serve parfaits, coffee, and milkshakes. Manila Creamy has branches in UP Town Center, Vertis North, SM Megamall, and ATC Corporate Center.

Sampaguita Ice Cream

The country’s national flower has been surprisingly turned into an ice cream flavor. Sampaguita ice cream is a delightful concoction of sampaguita and vanilla beans.

Where to find it: Ilustrado Restaurant is located in the heart of Intramuros in Manila, serving Spanish-Filipino cuisine. It was also the first restaurant that introduced sampaguita-flavored ice cream.

ChocNut Soft Serve

What was once a simple snack is now an ice cream flavor that brings back a lot of childhood memories. ChocNut soft serve takes you a trip down memory lane.

Where to find it: The Lost Bread specializes in soft serve ice cream, milkshakes, and french toasts. They also offer Filipino-inspired meals and coffee. The Lost Bread has branches in SM Megamall, StrEat Food Park in Maginhawa St. QC, and The Yard Underground in Pasig.

White Rabbit Soft Serve

The candy that our grandparents used to give us has now been turned into an ice cream flavor! The distinct sweetness of White Rabbit is still the same, only that it's now cold and more enjoyable to eat.

Yakult Soft Serve

Another nostalgic treat that has been turned into an ice cream flavor. We used to hear bells whenever a Yakult vendor is nearby. But this time, it's now best served in a waffle cone!

Where to find them: Black Scoop Cafe serves these nostalgic flavors that bring us back to our childhood. It started as a small cafe in Maginhawa Street in QC but they now have branches in malls around the metro.

Roselle’s Embrace

Hibiscus (the scientific name for Gumamela) is more popular as a tea drink; but this time, it transforms as a unique ice cream flavor.

Where to find them: Papa Diddi’s Handcrafted Ice Cream specializes in homemade ice cream infused with carabao’s milk. Papa Diddi’s ice cream shop is located at 168 Maginhawa St. in Diliman, QC and they also offer ice cream subscription!

Sili Ice Cream

Made from siling labuyo and coconut milk, Sili Ice Cream is available in varying levels of spiciness. Experience Level 1 to 3, with “Volcano” as the spiciest.

Pipino Ice Cream

On the other hand, keep your cool with a pipino (cucumber) ice cream that bursts with a refreshing flavor.

Where to find them: 1st Colonial Restaurant introduced Sili Ice Cream because Bicol is famous for spicy food. As a local restaurant in Albay, they incorporated chilli not only in their viands but also in the famous dessert. 1st Colonial Restaurant has branches in Legazpi City and in Tagaytay City, Cavite.

Red Horse Ice Cream

Who would have thought that beer can also be an ice cream flavor? Made with custard base, eggs, and the local beer Red Horse, it’s an ultimate dessert with a kick!

Where to find it: There are many homemade Red Horse ice cream available in the online market. The recipe is also available on the internet but if you don’t want to prepare it yourself, JMJ Foodmart in Northern Samar sells Red Horse ice cream in cups and pints.

Mango with Bagoong Sorbet

Mango has always been a favorite ice cream flavor, but to top it with bagoong? We dare you to give it a try! Green mangoes are best partnered with savory bagoong (shrimp paste) as its saltiness complements the tanginess of the fruit. These two can't be separated even as sorbet!

Where to find it: Sebastian's Ice Cream is one of the premiere artisanal ice cream shops in Metro Manila. They also offer other ice cream flavors inspired from Filipino snacks including sapin-sapin (rice cake) and champorado (chocolate rice porridge).
