Marriott Hotel Manila has once again witnessed the biggest gathering of oenophiles and epicureans alike at the 17th Grand Wine Experience on November 24, 2017. Dubbed as “Dégustation”, it was a culinary journey that took guests to a vast spectrum of exquisite flavors from all around the world with over 500 wines and spirits.
This year’s occasion brought new and great surprises to the palate lead by Marriott Hotel Manila's Executive Chef Meik Brammer. Guests were treated to the finest wines from Chile’s First Ultra Premium Winery – Montes, to the world-renowned Torres vineyard and winery; Australia’s oldest Family-owned vineyard, Yalumba; and New Zealand’s Monkey Bay to name a few. The 17th GWE stayed true to its mission to continue to educate all its stakeholders in the art of drinking and dining.
The Grand Wine Experience was founded in 2000 by the four Joseph brothers of the Philippine Wine Merchants - one of the biggest distributors of wines and spirits in the Philippines. GWE came to life to raise local awareness about wines and spirits. Since then, it transformed itself from a humble gathering to becoming the grandest wine event in Southeast Asia featuring wines and spirits from 22 countries, bringing in winemakers, wine connoisseurs, oenophiles, celebrities, dignitaries, and the like.
This festivity isn’t only focused on lavishness and extravagance but also of good cause. Proceeds of the Grand Wine Experience are donated to ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc., Project Pink, and to T.E.A.M. (Tourism Educators and Movers) Philippines. Chairman Robert Joseph, one of the Joseph Brothers, is also a well-known tourism advocate in the country and he uses this event for his advocacies in promoting the tourism industry of the Philippines with the help of the Department of Tourism.
