9 Extreme Activities in PH to Add in Your 2020 Travel Bucket List

The Philippines is more than its pristine beaches and unspoiled islands. From diving the seas to climbing mountains, there are lots of outdoor activities for the travel junkies to get their adrenaline rushing. Check this list of extreme activities in the country and start ticking them off your travel bucket list!

1. Ultralight Plane Flying in Pampanga

Curious on what it feels like to be a pilot? Then fly an ultralight plane in Pampanga! The Angeles City Flying Club specializes in ultralight flying. A recreational and sports flying club. With an instructional flight, together with one of their experienced instructors, you can experience ultralight flying at its best, before making the eventual decision to become a full member and take up flight training. Each instructional flight comes with a one-day membership to experience the ACFC and its facilities. The short flight will take you around Mt. Arayat, Pampanga River, and more depending on how long your chosen flight is.

  • 15 minutes – PHP 2,888.00
  • 20 minutes – PHP 3,888.00
  • 30 minutes – PHP 4,888.00
  • 45 minutes – PHP 6,888.00

2. Take The Plunge in Bohol

If you’ve been wanting to try free fall but got no guts to jump, then take The Plunge at Danao Adventure Park in Bohol. It’s the home of the World’s Highest Canyon Swing at 200 meters high and 300 meters wide. This 45-meter free fall will surely make your knees jelly but it’s worth a try!

3. Canyoneering in Cebu

Canyoneering has become the most popular outdoor adventure in Cebu and it put the towns of Alegria and Badian on the map. Travelers can choose between the two towns where they will climb, jump, slide, and swim in the canyons and turquoise water of Kanlaob River (also known as Matutinao River). Chasing waterfalls has never been this fun and thrilling!

Rate per person is at PHP 1,500.00. Tourists much register and secure payment at the Tourism Office.

4. Soar Through Asia's Longest Zipline

If ziplines near the metro sounds boring to you, then fly to Bukidnon and visit Dahilayan Adventure Park. At 840 meters in length, it’s considered as the home of Asia's longest zipline! See the Mountains of Bukidnon from a distance as you zip down the Dahilayan Zipzone.

5. Tandem Paragliding in Cavite and Rizal

Conquer your fear of heights with this sport that involves only a wide canopy and harness! Tandem Paragliding is an emerging activity in Rizal and Cavite where the lands are vast enough to glide safely and smoothly. Both places are just an hour or two away from Metro Manila by car which makes it ideal for a quick weekend activity! Take note that paragliding takes place either in Carmona, Cavite or in Binangonan, Rizal from October until June. On the other hand, paragliding is usually only possible in San Mateo, Rizal when it's rainy season which starts from June until October.

6. White Water Rafting in Kalinga and CDO

Level up your #squadgoals travel plans and try white water rafting. This activity uses an inflatable raft to navigate the rapids. You can experience the thrill of white water rafting either in the scenic Chico River in Kalinga, Luzon and in Cagayan de Oro river in Mindanao. Rainy season is the best time for white water rafting which is from June to December.

7. Rappelling in Bataan

If the idea of standing on the edge of a building makes your knees tremble, then rappelling is not for you. But for the sake of adventure, why don’t you give it a shot? The picturesque Mt. San Miguel in Bataan, which has been quarried before, has become a playground to rock climbers. Tour facilitators dubbed the 110-meter rock face of the mountain as the highest in Luzon, equivalent to a 35-storey high building. The beauty of this mountain has attracted rappelling enthusiasts. Various group tours offer guided rappelling for beginners.

8. Tandem Scuba Diving

Snorkeling is fun, but why stay in the shallow waters when you can explore much of the Philippines’ stunning marine life through scuba diving? You don’t need a certification to try this activity as various dive groups offer packages where you can learn the basics of scuba diving and experience open water dive at 20-30ft. with a licensed instructor. Introductory Dive packages range between PHP 3,000.00-3,500.00 at scuba diving centers in Anilao, Batangas and around PHP 2,000.00 at scuba diving centers in Davao.

9. Tandem Skydive in Cebu and Siquijor

Bring out the daredevil in you and try this heart-stopping experience of a lifetime! Tandem Skydive is a fun and safe way to experience the thrill of skydiving at 20,000 feet up in the sky which involves a student harnessed to a Tandem Instructor. Luckily, USPA (United States Parachute Association) member Skydive Greater Cebu has established a skydiving center in the Philippines so you don’t need to fly to another country to tick it off your bucket list.

Skydive Greater Cebu is located in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island and another branch in Siquijor. Tandem Skydive costs PHP 19,000.00 (USD 380.00) per person which includes brief instructional class and raw copies of hand cam captured photos and videos (USB flash drive to be provided by the client).
