Remember, there are thousands like you who want to score cheap flights but the promo seats are limited. If you want to book your next dream destination during the seat sale rampage, better yet be prepared with these tips so you can save time and effort.

1. Follow the social media accounts of airlines

Airlines announce their special promo and sales during important events or holidays including anniversaries, summer offers, rainy day promos, Independence Day, Christmas Day, etc. You can turn on the SEE FIRST feature of the Facebook page of your preferred airlines so their new posts will always prompt first on your news feed.

2. Sign up for an account and register for reward programs

Simply register for an account so you can also get email notifications. Airlines usually announce upcoming seat sale via email prior to posting them on social media. They also conduct exclusive sales to their members, and they can earn points using their membership card which can be converted to free flights!

For example, Cebu Pacific Air lets their members enjoy free flights by using GetGo points they earned from booking flights or purchasing from their partner merchants.

3. Take note of your companions’ personal details

If you are traveling with your family or friends, collect your companions’ personal details or create a master list of it so you won’t be asking for their info while you are already booking online. Don’t wait for your friends’ response as booking session expires if there’s no any activity on the website.

Other people are also eyeing on your preferred dates, so you better be quick! Personal details include full name, date of birth, age, address, contact number, and email address.

4. Decide on where to go but have an alternative plan

Simply have a “Plan B” on everything. In case the destination you’re eyeing for is no longer available, act fast and book another place, much like a not-so-popular destination. You can also consider booking on weekdays as weekends tends to be a little pricey and are often fully booked.

As mentioned, a lot of people are also taking advantage of the seat sale that’s why most of the slots are selling out quickly.

5. Be on standby and book as fast as you can

With the details on hand and planning ideas in mind, get your laptop or smartphone ready and make sure to have a fast and reliable Internet connection. Seat sales usually start at 12:00 AM so you better be an “abanger,” who patiently waits for the official sale day and get your gadget ready by 11:45 PM.

As soon the sale begins, promptly look for the destination and put on the details as fast as you can. Queuing and website crashing begin at the crack of dawn and promo seats sells out fast so book quickly before any of these happen!

6. Pick the first or last flight of the day

Flights scheduled in the early morning or late evening are not much booked compared with flights between 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Booking an early flight could also be great for your itinerary as you can have ample time getting to and from different tourist spots and there is little chance of your flight getting delayed.

It’s also best to schedule your return flight in the evening so you still have extra time in the day buying souvenirs or enough time to pack up and get to the airport.

7. Book in small groups

If you are traveling with friends or family, it’s better to book by batch in 2-3 persons. If you indicate all five your companions at once, there’s a high chance that seats will appear as SOLD OUT.

However, you’ll be surprised that promo seats are still available when you try to book between 2-3 persons only. In this case, it’s best to book by small batches or let another person book the other group at the same time, so all of you will still be in the same flight.

8. Be aware of the additional charges

“Piso Sale” doesn’t literally mean you’ll just spend a peso for a plane ticket. In fact, it is only the base fare that is on sale or in this case, priced at one peso. There are other additional fees including web administrative fee, fuel surcharge, VAT, among others that adds up.

If you want to lessen your total bill, do not choose seats yet, and avoid adding meals and check-in baggage.

And that’s it! Once you’ve completed the whole booking process and payment, an email will be sent to you containing your flight details. All you have to do is count the days ‘till your vacation!
