LOOK: Netizens share easy recipes you can try at home during lockdown

Running out of ideas for your everyday meals? Here’s a list of easy recipes that some netizens have been sharing on social media! Whether you just want to put a twist on your usual dish or cook snacks for afternoon munch, this handy guide will make your meal planning much easier. Plus, some of the recipes were inspired from famous fast food favorites so you don’t have to order online when you’re craving!

Dalgona Cake

After Dalgona coffee took the Internet by storm, netizens creatively made their own take on the Instagrammable drink and turned it into a cake. You don’t need to be a skilled baker to make this heavenly dessert. Just mix a few ingredients and again, a lot of whisking!

Ingredients:

For White Cream base:

  • 5 1/2 pcs. Chocolate Fudgee Barr
  • Cut 1 tbsp gelatin, clear & unflavored
  • 3 tbsp very hot water
  • 370 ml all-purpose cream, chilled overnight
  • 150 ml condensed milk, chilled overnight
  • 1/2 cup powdered milk (optional)

Toppings:

  • 1 tsp gelatin, clear & unflavored
  • 1 tbsp very hot water
  • 370 ml all-purpose cream, chilled overnight
  • 150ml condensed milk, chilled overnight
  • 4 tbsp instant coffee powder (more or less)
  • 1/4 cup white sugar(optional)
  • 1/2 cup Milo (more or less)

Steps:

Place the Fudgee Barr cakes onto the container and dissolve gelatin into the hot water. Whisk cream on high speed until foamy then add condensed milk and powdered milk after. Add dissolved gelatin and mix it well. Pour the mixture until 3/4 of each container and chill it overnight.

For the toppings, dissolve gelatin in a hot water. Whip cream on high speed until doubled in size then add condensed milk and dissolved gelatin. Mix it well and set aside 1/4 of the cream mixture. With the other 3/4 cream mixture, add instant coffee powder and white sugar. With the 1/4 cream mixture, add Milo powder. Pour onto the first layer and chill until ready to serve.

Choco Butternut Munchkins

Craving for the favorite Choco Butternut Doughnuts? Create your own munchkins instead with this easy-peasy recipe! The procedure of this no-bake dessert is similar with cake pops.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack Fudgee Barr
  • Butter or margarine
  • All Purpose Flour
  • Sugar (White)
  • Food Coloring (Orange)
  • Cocoa Powder
  • Evaporated milk or fresh milk

Steps:

Crush a few pieces of Fudgee Barr and shape it into circles. In a separate bowl, make some glaze by mixing 1/4 cup of cocoa powder (or Milo), 1 cup of white sugar, and 6 tbsp. of evaporated milk (or fresh milk).

In another bowl, create the orange sugar coat by mixing 6 tbsp of melted butter or margarine, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 5-6 tbsp. of orange food coloring, and 1/4 cup of sugar. Stir the ingredients on a pre-heated pan in low fire until it becomes dry. After mixing, strain the ingredients to make it fine.

Dip the circled Fudgee Barr into the glaze, then onto the orange sugar coat and serve.

Tuna Pie

Missing Jollibee’s Tuna Pie? There’s no need to prolong your agony as you can make your own at home! This no-bake tune pie will give your “tasty bread” another purpose aside from just eating it with spreads.

Ingredients:

  • Sliced Bread
  • Century Tuna
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Cheese
  • Mayonnaise
  • 2 eggs
  • Onion
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Cheese (optional)

Steps:

Drain a can of tuna and set aside it in a bowl. In a separate bowl, combine mayonnaise and minced onion, add a pinch of salt and pepper. Pour the mixture in the drained tuna then mix. Prepare your dough by getting a few of sliced bread and cutting off the brown sides, then flatten each sliced bread.

On the other half of the flattened bread, put a spoonful of the tuna mixture. Fold and seal the sides using a fork. In a separate bowl, beat the two eggs and have it ready for the tuna dough. Dip the tuna dough in the egg mixture and place it on the breadcrumbs. Deep fry in low heat then serve.

Banana Peel or Banana Blossom Patties

These vegan version of burger patties is not only nutritious but it’s also beneficial to the environment. Instead of tossing banana peels in the trash, make a healthy meal out of it. You can also try this on banana blossom (puso ng saging) as an alternative.

Ingredients:

  • Saba banana peels
  • Egg
  • Onion
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • Flour
  • Cornstarch
  • Carrots (optional)

Steps:

Boil banana peels for 10 minutes before mincing or vice versa. Drain the peels after boiling then mash them or put use a food processor instead. Mix the mashed peels with the other ingredients then shape it into patties. Fry the banana peel patties in low heat then serve.

Homemade Shakey’s Mojos

For the mojos fans, Shakey’s Japan has released their Mojo Potato recipe so that everyone can enjoy Shakey’s signature mojos as different countries undergo lockdown. Shakey’s Japan has been kind enough to share its recipe through the company’s official Twitter account!

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes
  • Fried chicken breading mix (100 grams/3.5 ounces)
  • Salt (30 grams/1.1 ounce)
  • Pepper (10 grams/0.4 ounces)

Steps:

Slice the potatoes then pop those slice spuds into the microwave for five minutes. Shakey’s recommends a power setting of 700 watts. Once the time is up, carefully remove the slices.

In a bowl, combine the fried chicken breading mix, salt, and pepper, then mix in the potato slices until their surfaces are covered with the seasonings. Toss the potatoes into a frying pan and deep fry them to your desired crispness. That’s all you have to do to have Shakey’s mojos at home!
