The Rundown: Tagaytay Art Beat 2018
by Gabriel Cadiz

Another epic bright night was brought to you by Museo Orlina, DocDef Productions, and Johnnie Walker as local art and music lovers experienced this year’s Tagaytay Art Beat that happened at Museo Orlina, Tagaytay City last May 19, 2018. It was a night to remember for everyone who got to be in the event as they jammed and danced under the stars.

Both musical and visual artforms were celebrated in this annual event.

Different talented artists shared their artworks at one of the coolest art museums in the summer capital in the south. Art lovers got to appreciate awesome murals and the newly opened reflections gallery, featuring works of different young artists. Attendees also got to chill at the rooftop of the museum sipping their tasty Johnnie Walker whisky cocktails, while listening to live music from famous musicians and bands play their hearts out at the sculpture grounds area of the museum.

The visuals artists who showcased their awesome artworks were Gab Loste, Jess de Leon, Lee Caces, Kim Pamela Co, Anthony Molina, Dennis Jimenez, Hannah Bundalian, Gab Baez, Jenny Gernale, Razel Mar, Dennis Bato, Lhean Storm, Mykie Concepcion, Rydel Reib Arayata, and Bea Policarpio. Their works will be on display at the Museo Orlina until August 2018.

Street artists Jappy Agoncillo, Dee Jae Paeste, and Miggy Antonio wowed everyone with their live art performance. Also, a neon photo room was created for everyone’s instagram-worthy photos to remember this year’s Art Beat!

Bottles of Johnnie Walkers were painted on and were turned into beautiful artworks, making them a permanent collection on the museum.

In this year’s rundown, these new performers stood out and made their own beautiful scene at the stage. Fresh faces, such as the kalimba artist Bea Lorenzo, powerful and woke hip hop artists of Uprising records, the fresh folk music of Munimuni, and the feels train I Belong to the Zoo are first timers to play at this annual event. While Art Beat regular fan favorites such as Autotellic, Tom’s Story, and Farewell Fairweather are back for another year of their awesome iconic signature performances.
